Uta Stobbe is Head of Business Development for the DACH Region at Sigma7 Paragon Risk
Engineering, where she leads strategic client engagement and market growth initiatives across
Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In this role, Uta drives business development and clientfocused strategies that integrate technical risk engineering expertise with commercial objectives.
She works closely with regional leadership, underwriting partners, and engineering teams to
align service delivery with the evolving risk management needs of multinational clients.
With nearly two decades of experience spanning engineering, underwriting, and strategic
business development, Uta brings a unique combination of technical and commercial acumen to
the global property risk sector. Her career reflects a strong focus on enhancing collaboration
between risk engineers, underwriters, and clients—bridging technical analysis with business
value creation. She has deep expertise in property risk management for high-hazard occupancies,
including wood products, molten metal, and automotive industries, as well as experience in
natural catastrophe and business interruption risk mitigation.
Before joining Sigma7 Paragon, Uta held leadership positions at Chubb European SE, where she
managed engineering teams across the DACH region, Russia, and Poland. She played a pivotal
role in developing cross-selling strategies across multiple insurance lines, restructuring regional
engineering operations, and creating training frameworks to enhance underwriting and technical
proficiency. Earlier in her career, she served as an Account Engineer with AIG Europe S.A.,
where she helped design and implement the company’s account engineering model in Germany,
and began her risk engineering career with FM Global, providing on-site property risk consulting
services across Europe.
Throughout her career, Uta has developed and delivered numerous client workshops and internal
training programs focused on business continuity, loss prevention, and strategic account
management. She continues to play an active role in industry events, exhibitions, and forums that
advance the practice of integrated risk management.
Uta holds a Dipl. Ing. in Civil Engineering from Fachhochschule Augsburg, with specialization
in project management and quantity surveying. She is fluent in German and English.
Kumu leads the international team that offers risk consultancy to underwriters, brokers and direct
to customers. This team helps customers to better understand the risks they are exposed to and
build their resilience by improving their risk mitigation.
With over three decades of experience spanning pollution control, pharmaceutical R&D,
insurance and broker risk engineering and leadership, Kumu brings a customer centric viewpoint
on risk consultancy, combined with a strong technical background. His career starts within
industry, then moved to being a globally deployed risk engineer within two insurance companies
and at a broker, with many leadership roles, before joining Sigma7 in July 2025. Throughout his
career he has demonstrated the importance of being a trusted advisor and ensuring his team
demonstrated elite customer service.
Before joining Sigma7, Kumu led the Zurich Resilience Solutions UK team and was also on the
executive committee that led ZRS globally, being one of the drivers of the move to a consultancy
model. Prior to 2015 Kumu led the Risk Engineering team at Marsh Risk Consulting,
diversifying the team’s service and strengthening its commercial stance. Prior to 2012 Kumu
was at RSA, leading the energy market facing Specialist Risk Engineering team. Prior to 2003
Kumu spent ten years in industry spanning energy plant design, pollution control and
pharmaceutical R&D, where he became a published scientist and developed many patents.
Kumu has an honours degree in Chemical Engineering, became a Chartered Engineer in 2000
and has a European Diploma in Fire Prevention.
